Thanks to the continued support of Chevron, Techbridge has started its second year at Holbrook Elementary School in Concord. The girls began their year with a series of structural design challenges to help them learn about civil and structural engineering. While building a standing structure was challenging, in the end each girl experienced success!  Lessons in perseverance are important and Techbridge teaches girls how to problem solve and keep trying.

The girls were lucky enough to visit the Chevron headquarters in the fall and meet many of the employees who work there.  During the trip the girls engaged in three hands on activities that taught them about different careers at Chevron including geology, technical computing and chemical engineering.  By the end of the field trip, this group of fifth grade girls thought that a career at Chevron would be fun and rewarding.

Currently the girls are working on creating their own model “green” homes using green construction methods, recycled materials and lots of creativity!  Everyone at Holbrook is excited about Techbridge and look forward to the hands-on projects and career exploration activities.
