Techbridge Receives Motorola Solutions Foundation Innovation Generation Grant
OAKLAND, CA, Sept. 4, 2013 – Techbridge, today announced it has received $30,000 as part of the Innovation Generation grant program from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. Through the grant, Techbridge will provide year-long, after-school programs that offer innovative, hands-on activities and career exploration in science, technology and engineering to 120 underserved girls in San Jose, California as well as professional development for teachers at four participating schools.
Since 2007, Innovation Generation grants has provided $3.4 million in support of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education programs, supporting more than 400 school, museum and nonprofit programs across the United States and Canada. The Innovation Generation program awards funds to organizations such as Techbridge that foster and support STEM initiatives for teachers and U.S. preschool through university students – especially girls and underrepresented minorities.
Techbridge Executive Director, Linda Kekelis, reflected, “We’ve seen the impact of our program on girls and look forward to continuing to bring the wonders of STEM to girls in San Jose. We are grateful to the Motorola Solutions Foundation for partnering with us and supporting our mission to expand the options for girls.”
