Created in 1974 to “honor the people who dedicate themselves to taking action and solving problems in their communities” National Volunteer Week is a reminder to me to pause and thank the people who contribute to our organization’s high capacity to “inspire a girl to change the world.”
Techbridge thrives with the help of many volunteers: our board, our STEM role models, and a body of caring adults across the country I cannot name. They are the Girl Scout troop leaders who take that extra step to bring engineering activities to their girls. That act sounds simple....

Each year Equal Pay Day symbolically marks how far into the calendar year a woman must work to match the earnings of men from the previous year. Since President John F. Kennedy passed the Equal Pay Act in 1963 the gender wage gap has narrowed slightly, but has not seen a significant decrease in the past few years. In 1963, women earned 59% of the wages men earned. Women, on average, still only make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes today...
