Convention Fever!

Girl Scout Convention

It’s time for the Girl Scouts of the USA triennial national convention, and again this year, as in Houston in 2011, Techbridge will have a booth in the Hall of Experiences. The 2014 convention is in Salt Lake City, and the Exhibit Hall opens Thursday October 16th and runs through Saturday October 18th.

Techbridge will be in Booth 704 with our Girls Go Techbridge programs-in-a-box on display, copies of our “Engineer Your Journey” Planners to give out, and hands-on projects to try. Snap Circuits® by Elenco are always a crowd-pleaser. They’re the first hands-on activity in our “Power It Up” kit, an introduction to circuits, soldering and electrical engineering.

Did you see the Girl Scout University sessions on “Growth Mindset” and “Join the STEM-pede”? Those workshops sound right in keeping with what Techbridge wants to cultivate in after-school clubs and troops across the country.

The speakers at the Convention look amazing and inspirational, too. Our friend at Goldieblox, Debbie Sterling, is on the agenda, as is STEM-advocate and AT&T’s senior executive vice president, Cathie Coughlin.

We look forward to talking with girls, volunteers, council staff and board chairs about using Techbridge as an exciting and easy-to-implement part of your STEM Initiative. Convention is such a fun time to meet new friends and re-connect with our council collaborators from the last five years of Girls Go Techbridge scale up.

And if we miss connecting with you at “the Ultimate Girls’ Weekend” please give us a call or shoot us an email at (510) 777-9170 x314 or info@techbridgegirls.org. Techbridge would love to get to know you better.
