Callista Chen Joins as Greater Seattle Executive Director

Techbridge is thrilled to announce that Callista Chen has joined its team as Greater Seattle Executive Director. Callista’s fifteen years of professional experience includes positions in international development at the World Bank in Liberia and Swaziland and as a management consultant and editor at McKinsey & Company. Throughout her career, she has been a volunteer mentor and tutor for girls and young women. Callista holds a BA from Stanford University in Human Biology as well as an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. She will be helping to lead the expansion of Techbridge’s after-school programs throughout Greater Seattle.

As our CEO, Linda Kekelis, remarked, “Callista brings to Techbridge a broad range of experience and a passion for empowering and inspiring girls, and we are extremely excited to have her on board.”

In the 2014-15 school year, Techbridge’s first in Greater Seattle, its weekly after-school programs served more than 180 girls in grades 5-8 in Highline Public Schools. Nationally, Techbridge has directly served more than 5,000 girls in grades 4-12 and has focused on low-income, underserved communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, primarily in Oakland and San Jose. This school year, Techbridge is also expanding its after-school programs to Washington, DC. This expansion was made possible by a five-year $2.7 million grant from the National Science Foundation to bring Techbridge’s award-winning after-school program to three cities across the U.S. In addition to its after-school program, Techbridge has reached over 15,000 adults through trainings and resources for role models, educators, and families.

Welcome, Callista!
