Response to COVID-19

Techbridge Girls has been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis, helping to provide emotional and educational support for our girls, especially those in some of the most vulnerable communities. This pandemic is confirming what we have been fighting for the past 20 years– amplifying the inequalities within our educational and economic systems. Our programming, our community, and our support is needed now more than ever before.

That’s why we’re excited to announce the public launch of TechbridgeGirls@Home, a new virtual learning program that will reach girls where they are: at home. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working with our expert programming team on reimagining our award-winning STEM curriculum for a digital space, making it both informative, hands-on, and interactive. We’ve run a pilot program to test this new approach and we received an incredibly positive response from our girls and educators, making it clear that this type of programming can help us break down educational, economic, racial and gender barriers that are prohibiting our girls from pursuing careers in STEM.

Starting today, we will be sharing regular virtual lessons for educators, our girls and their families to complete at home. We are making this programming FREE and online for anyone to use and engage with. Each lesson will come with an instructional handout, a learning video featuring one of our team members or role models, and directions for girls to share their projects with one another online as part of a virtual community.

For the past 20 years, Techbridge Girls has been paving the way for new innovations in STEM learning. Your generosity has made this possible, but we still have a ways to go. While moving toward online learning was part of our long-term strategy, COVID-19 has made this urgent and necessary. Your support will help us provide girls with the educational and emotional support they need to navigate this crisis, and will help lay the foundation for the future of our organization. Give today and help us give girls the tools they need today to lead fearlessly tomorrow.

We are excited to take this bold new step towards digitizing our curriculum and scaling it to reach even more girls and communities in need.

March 16, 2020

Given the unprecedented spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and school closures across the U.S., Techbridge Girls is following the direction of our local districts and has suspended all our after-school programming effective immediately. All EYH conferences that were originally scheduled to take place from March 17, 2020 through May 10, 2020 have now been canceled or postponed until after May 10.

Techbridge Girls is deeply committed to empowering girls from low-income communities to achieve economic mobility through high-quality STEM experiences. And we are equally committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our program participants, event attendees, and other community members.

Techbridge Girls is working quickly and diligently to formulate alternative program delivery options by planning at-home STEM activities for our girls, curating resources for families, and creating opportunities for our girls to develop their own civic engagement and leadership skills in response to COVID-19.

Additionally, please note that we have rescheduled our 20th Anniversary Gala (originally scheduled for May 14, 2020) to be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the Four Seasons in San Francisco, CA. We have also postponed our annual “She Persisted: Celebrating Changemakers” fundraiser in Seattle until fall 2020. Our annual Showcase events in Washington, D.C., Oakland, CA, and Seattle, WA will be rescheduled or reimagined.

We will keep you updated on any further actions that we may take, and we will add resources and information to this webpage on an ongoing basis.

Thank you for your continued support as we navigate through these challenging circumstances.
